Review: Peony White Needle Tea
Here’s the description of the tea from Culinary Tea’s website:
Peony White Needle Tea is a delicate white tea that has a clean taste faintly reminiscent of fresh apples. Refreshing with a lovely lingering flavor.
Tasting Notes
The look of the tea leaves are striking. The fragrance is light to non-existent, just a subtle hint of sweet grass and hay. The tea is a silvery white with a soft fur over the carefully plucked buds.
The package notes indicate steeping at 180 degrees for 2-3 minutes. After a few minute steep, the tea itself is vegetal, with a slight sweetness that lingers on the tongue. What was very unusual is that there’s an herbal undertone to it, a hint of earthiness that reminds me quite a bit like pu-erh tea. The combination isn’t unpleasant, but surprising. Overall, an interesting tea to try.
