Review: Hawaiian Volcano Green
This tea is week 5 of Canton Tea Company’s Canton Tea Club which I wrote about earlier. The wonderful part of this tea series is the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the story behind the tea — you can read more about the tea on their site, and learn more about how these teas were produced and came to be.
Tasting Notes
A striking tea, the tea leaves are big and crunchy, varying in color from deep green to olive green with toasted tips.
Overall, this tea was quite good, but not my favorite. The tea is fragrant and intensely grassy. The smell hits you as soon as the tea leaves come from the bag. It reminds me a little bit of very fresh matcha. The steeped tea is medium-bodied, sweet, and flavorful of grass and cucumber. It’s delicate without being overpowering, and doesn’t even have a hint of bitterness.
