Not sure what to do with that leftover tea in the cupboard? Here are some creative ideas on how to cook with tea that I’m planning to try soon.
- Your favorite tea can be used to flavor your baked goods. Melt the butter with the tea leaves in it, and then sieve out the leaves
- Brewed tea can be used for braising or marinating. Tea is an effective tenderizer for meats, try it in a marinade
- Make tea-infused truffles, by steeping the tea in the cream
- Grind tea leaves in a pepper mill and use it as a rub
- Add jasmine tea to rice, for a rich, fragrant flavor
- Make a smoothie, by blending chilled brewed tea with ice and milk, ice cream or yogurt
- Replace water or stock with tea when cooking rice or other grains
- Don’t enjoy a tea? Sometimes if it needs a little extra oomph, you can get creative and create your own blends by mixing one tea with another
